Design flexibility: Automotive axles come in a variety of styles (solid, hollow, splined, one-piece, two-piece, telescopic) to accommodate different vehicle types and driveline layouts, and to optimize performance for specific applications (e.g., shorter shafts for front-wheel drive, longer multi-piece shafts for rear-wheel drive/all-wheel drive trucks). Applications of automotive shafts Drivetrain: Propeller shafts (propeller shafts): Used primarily in rear-wheel drive (RWD), all-wheel drive (AWD), and four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles. They transfer power from the transmission or transfer case to the differentials at the front and/or rear axles. Steering System: Steering Shaft: Connects the steering wheel to the steering gearbox or rack and pinion system. Steering shafts often contain universal joints to allow for angle changes and to accommodate safety features.
