Do you have a Case-IH combine and want to install a Wobble Box Drive Idler? You may have noticed that the Idler is not dead level with the knife bar. I'll show you how to fix this problem and get your combine working like new again! Follow these steps to replace the wobble box: Wobble Box Drive Idler is not dead level with the knife bar When the wobble box drive idler is not dead level with the knife bar on your Case-IH combine, there is a chance that it is causing the knife to lift. The knife may also be rubbing on the front of the machine, which can cause frequent breakage near the head. To remedy this, shim the trunnion bearings. To do this, remove the top plate cover and access the trunnion bearings.To determine whether this is a drive issue, look at the right hand pivot drive belt and its location on the large countershaft drive sheave. If the belt is not dead level, check the drive speed of the blades and header drives. If these speeds are too slow for ground speed, the cutting mechanism may not be working properly. If this problem persists, contact Technical Service Support for assistance. It is not in line with the knife bar You may notice that the knife is not seating on the guards properly because the wobble box drive arm is lifting it and forcing it down. This can occur due to a lack of clearance. This can be fixed by adjusting the trunnion bearings. You will need to remove the top plate cover to access the trunnion bearings. It is not level with the knife bar When the wobble box drive is faulty, the knife can lift or force its way down. This can also occur when the knife head is not seated properly on the guards. To solve this issue, shim the trunnion bearings by a millimetre. You can access these bearings by lifting the top plate cover. After shimming them, tighten the trunnion bearings by turning them counterclockwise. A broken knuckle could cause the sideways movement. It could also affect the feather sheets. Also, the wobble box may make loud clicks. It may be difficult to reach the main bearing box, but it is possible to disengage it by unscrewing the bearing shims. It should take you less than an hour to do this.
