Keeping your Feeder house drive sprocket in proper tension is essential for its longevity and reliability. When it's overstretched, it can easily jump off its sprocket or hang together. Worse, the parts may get pushed deeper inside your combine.Fortunately, there are several ways to keep your Feeder chain in proper tension and protect it from unnecessary damage. Feeder house drive sprocket Replace the broken sprocket on the Case-IH Combine feeder house and reassemble the entire system with a remanufactured one. This assembly replaces the drive sprocket and rock trap beater. Abilene Machine's feeder house chain repair parts can correct problems with the feeder house chain, including jumping, out-of-tolerance chain stretch, frozen links, and broken T slats. Feeder house drive shaft speed A Case-IH Combine's feeder house drive shaft speed controls the rate at which the rotor feeds the grain. There are two settings for feeder house speeds - minimum and maximum. If you have a 20-series combine, you can set the feeder speed to a specific ratio,or set it to operate automatically. To set the speed of the feeder, you need to set the feed shaft auto mode rocker switch to "AUTO" or "MINI", whichever is more appropriate for your farm. For a Case-IH 2600 corn head, the feeder jackshaft speed range is 460 to 690 RPM. If you are running the corn headers on the 88 series, the feeder jackshaft speed on the Draper is fixed at 570 RPM. If you run the Draper corn augers at 570 RPM, the speed of the feed jackshaft will be at 470 RPM. Lower sprocket If you need a new lower sprocket for the drive on your feeder house, Collier & Miller aftermarket combines are an excellent choice. Made of grade 1045 bright steel, they are manufactured to OEM specifications and feature a new extended Hex bush. If yours is stretched, it may jump off the sprocket and send parts further into the combine. When it's time to replace the chain on your Case IH combine, look for signs of wear or excessive play in the feeder house drive. The bar must be bent, or there's obvious wear on the feeder chain. Changing the chain will ensure that your combine is ready for harvest the next year, and will also reduce the chances of feeder chain failure. Be sure to choose the right replacement for your combine model, as some are made to fit differently than others. This can cause premature wear and stretching.
