How the differential works
A differential is a mechanical device used to distribute torque, typically used to switch between drive shafts to ensure that two or more wheels can rotate at different speeds. The working principle of a differential is based on the relative motion between its internal gears and shafts. How the differential works
A differential typically consists of a central main differential and one or more sub differentials. The central main differential is usually a metal casing fixed to the frame or engine bracket, which contains two planetary gears and a worm gear. These two planetary gears rotate in opposite directions and are responsible for transmitting torque from the gearbox to the drive shaft. The rotation of a worm gear is the same as that of a planetary gear, but it can "grab" the planetary gears and cause them to rotate together. When the vehicle turns or changes in speed, the relative motion between the worm gear and planetary gears can cause the wheels to rotate at different speeds, thereby achieving smooth turning and driving of the vehicle.
The differential is usually located between the drive shafts and is used to distribute torque to two or more wheels. A differential is usually composed of two gears and two worm gears, responsible for transmitting torque from the central main differential to the differential. In a differential, two gears and two worm gears are paired and can mesh or separate with each other to control the speed difference of the wheels. When the vehicle accelerates or decelerates, the differential can automatically adjust the meshing or separation between the gears and worm gears as needed to ensure that the wheels rotate at the optimal speed, thereby improving the performance and stability of the vehicle.
